While 23 lettermen return this year for Kevin Hall at Manvel, receiver and 2018 all-district first team selection Jalen Pax­ton (6-0, 185, 4.5) is the lone offensive veteran, while five Mavs are back for the second-year coach on defense.


Other players to watch for Hall and company include QB Tucker Yarborough (6-1, 215, 4.9), running backs Donovan Eaglin (5-11, 225, 4.6) and Jordan Vaughn (6-1, 190, 4.6), cornerbacks Vinson Brown (6- 1, 180, 4.5) and Jaqai Neal (5- 10, 185, 4.6), defensive tackle De`Undre Potts (6-0, 285), of­fensive tackle Christen Robin­son (6-4, 285), defensive back Treyvon Jenkins and place kicker Luis Moreno.

Fort Bend Marshall is tabbed by DCTFM to win the 11-5A crown and advance to the Di­vision II state finals again, but ends up on the short end to Aledo for the second straight year. Willowridge and Houston Sterling are the favorites by the magazine’s pundits to finish in the running for the district’s third and fourth seeded playoff berths, as well.

The Division II rankings include the following teams: 1. Aledo; 2. Fort Bend Mar­shall; 3. Corpus Christi Calal­len; 4. Marshall (East Texas); 5. Huntsville; 6. Manvel; 7. A&M Consolidated; 8. Frisco Reedy; 9. Lubbock-Cooper; 10. South Oak Cliff.


Manvel kicks off their sea­son on Aug. 30 against Clear Lake at Webster’s Challenger Columbia Stadium.
